Our Story

Our story begins how most culinary stories do, as a love story on a warm February day in 1994.

Kevin Liddell--a true North Country boy, born and raised in Heuvelton where he graduated and then moved to Florida where he met Kelly--a 'true Southern Cracker'  on a blind date to an Aerosmith Concert, and fell in love.

The two married and had two daughters, Kirstin and Aubrie. While the two worked in Florida, Kevin further developed his passion for cooking and most importantly the art of smoking meat. They begin to cater for local schools, churches, events and organizations as a hobby. In 2008, wanting to get back to a small-town feel for their girls, Kevin and Kelly heard that a restaurant near Kevin's hometown was up for sale and thus a dream was born. Our restaurant is a family-affair, with 95% of the cooking done by Kevin himself and Kelly pitching in with to-die for desserts and Southern side dishes. Their youngest daughter Aubrie manages social media presence, helps with organizing catering jobs, and running day-to-day operations. And oldest daughter Kirstin sends in ideas for dishes and gives us insight into 'trends' from her residence in D.C. You can see other family members pitching in from time-to-time as well as close family friends and some of our regular customers who have become like family. We work hard to serve the best quality and most flavorful food for the hungry mouths of North Country residents--offering unique tastes and dishes not commonly found around here. We hope we can serve you soon!

In-House Dining

When you visit us on Highway 37 between Ogdensburg and Waddington, you can dine in our cozy dining room with great wait staff or in the Summer we have an awesome patio for outside dining full of greenery and rustic charm. Enjoy an ice cold beer with your meal, we have several on-tap options as well as wine slushies in the Summer months, craft sodas from Iron Heart Brewing. 

Sunday Brunch

Sundays we offer a decadent menu combining the two best meals of the day--breakfast and lunch! Relax on our patio, enjoy a mimosa, try one of our unique egg bennies, a stuffed french toast, or our famous Smokehouse hash. 

Catering

Catering is what gave us our start in Florida so we're professionals at it now. Whether it's a wedding, graduation party, business banquet or whatever your gathering may be we got you covered. Instead of a typical catering menu we will meet with you personally to get a feel for you and your event to work out the best food options, set up, and price for your event. 

In the Kitchen

We like to use locally-sourced, fresh ingredients as much as possible. This not only helps support other local businesses but helps you know where your food comes from. We work with local distributors such as C&M Beef, King's Dairy, Sweeter Creations Maple House, Baby O's Barnyard, 3 Brothers Wineries and Estates, and many more. 

Whether you're joining us for a weeknight special, our our Smokin' Saturdays for our huge sampler platters, or for a lovely Sunday morning brunch, you'll find fresh-made, hand-crafted dishes ready for you to enjoy.
